This was my first project where I was assigned to be the Art Director. My job in addition to creating art, was to give feedback to others, manage deadlines, check in with other artists and make a list of what needed to be done by who. My creative tasks were to create original designs for enemies. This was my second time working with pixels, so I was able to work faster than I previously had, and I had a better understanding of pixel animations. I thoroughly enjoyed creating the idle and attack animations for the jester, and I think it's some of my favorite animation works. We didn’t have a hard deadline for this project, but I was balancing work for other classes and searching for housing while working on this. I would have liked to at least add another idle and attack animation for the lion tamer. The art and animations were created with Pixel Studio (iPad). The biggest challenge I faced with this game was communication between the group. As the art director, I had to talk to both the producers of the game and the rest of the art team. Artists weren’t given clear instructions, as this was our main producer’s first time leading a project. I helped the producer guide both the producers and the artists. I gave suggestions for the game and helped figure out what our overall goals were. If anyone was struggling or fell short of their tasks, I helped come up with a compromise so that we were still able to make some progress. Though the team wasn’t as put together as previous ones I’ve worked with, I was able to adapt to this and keep up communication with one another. Disclaimer: This version has been archived. I am not involved in any updated versions of the game.
